RESCUE SUCCESS STORIES

For over a year, SHIINA (as in.. Queen of the Jungle) was a stray living in a wooded area along a major highway.  She survived by eating road-kill and the occasional meals left along the road by concerned area residents.  After many months of eluding our efforts with humane traps...Eureka !  She's now a tame, sweet-natured dog, happy to have all the 'comforts of home'.

Shortly after IISTRA was born, her nest was destroyed along with all of her brothers and sisters.  With a great deal of loving care and medical attention, she survived with only a blind eye as a distant memory of that sad day.  She is very playful and especially adores her sparrow friend.

As a fledgling, our little sparrow, ZHAQEL, was attacked, and as a result lost one of his wings.  He's been with us for nine years now.  He loves his daily piece of banana treat, has his own personal birdbath (warmed to his preference), and his best friend is a bunny.  He greets us every morning with a song and responds in chirps whenever we speak to him...A happy little fellow !

VASCHA was hit by a car and required a delicate surgery to place a plate in his hip.  While recuperating, he was joined by TIGAHN, an orphaned fawn who came to us frightened, alone, and near death.  Quality medical treatment, proper nutrition, and personal care have given them a second chance.  The two remain great friends and now enjoy safe and carefree lives here in protected surroundings.

CANCUN was brought to us when she was found in a leg-hold trap.  Amputation, and weeks of medications and fluids were necessary to save her life.  We nursed her back to health, and released her here in the safety of the sanctuary.  We see her various times throughout the year and are thrilled to know she's doing so well.

Several years ago as a stray, TOUCHE' was hit by a car sustaining a crushed pelvis, loss of a leg, and impaired bodily functions.  We brought him home, and found a reconstructive specialist who did such a miraculous surgery that Touche' now streaks through the house with his friends.  Even though we still must help him express his bladder, he enjoys a normal, happy, healthy life.
